Even from an ocean away, Robbie Keane is still thinking of the LA Galaxy.
Keane, who spent 2011-16 as a Galaxy forward, recently shared a message of support on Twitter for his old club. He urged supporters to stay home and do their part as we all work towards limiting COVID-19’s spread.
“I just want to send you a message all the way from Ireland to tell you that I’m thinking about you at this difficult time,” Keane, a former Galaxy captain, said. “Please stay safe and stay home. Even apart we stand together. I cannot wait to visit you guys very, very soon. Please take care of yourself. God bless.”
Keane’s MLS career included 83 goals and 45 assists in 125 regular-season games, plus another nine goals and six assists in 21 playoff matches.
His time in LA included three MLS Cup victories (2011, ‘12, ‘14) and two Supporters’ Shields (2010, ‘11). A Designated Player while in MLS, Keane often starred alongside Landon Donovan and David Beckham. He took home MLS MVP honors in 2014.
Keane, 39, is now the assistant manager of Middlesbrough and the Republic of Ireland national team.
