Revolution 1, Galaxy 1 -- quote sheet

LOS ANGELES GALAXY 1, NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 1

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

Overall thoughts on the match:
"It could've been very special tonight. It could've been very special for Mike Enfield. It could've been very special for the Galaxy to have beaten the Revolution. One lapse of concentration, one mistake, and we tie the match. It seems a bit unfair but that's the reality of this game. We can't continue to make silly mistakes in the back. I don't care if it's in the 40th minute or the 90th minute. It's a very disappointing evening for us. We basically threw away two points. So to say that I'm disappointed is an understatement and the way it was done even more so."

On Michael Enfield's performance:
"I'm very proud of Mike Enfield for coming on and doing so well and scoring a goal. He's a bright young man and has a very bright future in this league."

On Ned Grabavoy's performance:
"Well, I think Ned Grabavoy, for not having played with the first team, gave us a sense of rhythm and pause in the midfield. I was very pleased with him and this young man was not 90 minutes fit, yet he gave a great effort."

On looking ahead:
"We just have to continue to plug away and put this behind us and continue to work. None of us are going to stop or stop believing. You can see we can play with any team in this league, especially here. We know that they were without players but certainly we were without a lot of players as well. The key for us is getting healthy ... I'm confident that as we get healthy that this team will be a contender and a strong contender."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD MICHAEL ENFIELD

On the goal:
"I saw Herculez [Gomez] with the ball and I found myself open on the far post and he sent me the perfect ball. I got word from the sideline to shoot after missing on the breakaway and I just shot with my head. It was a great experience for me."

On his first MLS goal:
"It's the best feeling besides getting my first minutes. So, this is the new best thing."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD HERCULEZ GOMEZ

On his assist:
"What a great ball by Todd [Dunivant]. He saw the defender kind of sleeping, played it right behind him and fortunately he was able to get under it. The defender caught up to me so I cut back on my left foot and I saw Mikey make a great run. I just wanted to give him a chance. I put it up there and it was a fantastic goal by him. He deserves it."

On giving up a goal in the last minute:
"We have to be better. We talked all week about how we have to be stronger. This is The Home Depot Center, so they have to come out here and earn it. It was a mental breakdown at the end. We just have to be better."

On improving the final minutes:
"I think it was an emotional game overall. This is a team that's learning how to play off of emotion. We're just going to take that last minute and play it like we would if the game was continuing."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the game:
"No, we didn't play well. It certainly wasn't what I expected from the team. We should expect more from ourselves as far as quality is concerned. The quality was not there. One guy feeds another one a bad ball and he loses it; it creates a knockdown effect."

On Andy Dorman's goal:
"We played badly and lost two good chances from a good free kick; we scored a goal, but other than that we played badly."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION GOALKEEPER MATT REIS

On the game:
"Going into the game we said that if we could get a point in Los Angeles we would take it. Unfortunately, we did not play very well, and we felt that if we had played well we would've gotten three points out of it."

On the difference between the teams:
"We had a lot of unforced errors and a lot of key players out. We weren't sharp. When we got the ball wide, we weren't getting it in the box. We were trying to take on too many people. We didn't create too many chances. We had two chances if that. The difference between both teams was not that much."

On the Galaxy goal:
"They got the ball wide and I think Ryan [Latham] misplayed it. They recovered it well and (Enfield) made a good run to the back post and beat Parkhurst. He got a good cross and put it in the back of the net."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION MIDFIELDER ANDY DORMAN

On his goal:
"I think it was Joey [Franchino] who got a touch and then it took a bad bounce and I put it away."

On playing on a larger field:
"It doesn't really look that big on TV, but when you're out there it's a big pitch. There's a lot of room in around the defenses and out wide. It's a lot of ground to cover for everybody."

On the team's performance:
"I don't know it looked on TV but it didn't feel like the best game I've played personally and as a team."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION FORWARD TAYLOR TWELLMAN

On playing 90 minutes:
"It was all right; it still could've been better. Really wasn't able to let it go, it's still in the back of my mind, but we'll play a couple more and I'll be back."
