The San Jose Earthquakes' list of candidates to become their next head coach keeps growing, and two of the most recent names added to it might just be the most intriguing.
ESPN FC reported Friday night that the Quakes have requested permission from LAFC to speak with the expansion club's highly-respected assistant coach Marc Dos Santos, a veteran of the North American scene who led the San Francisco Deltas to the 2017 NASL championship, that league's most recent season, before joining Bob Bradley's staff in Los Angeles.
The Canadian has also worked at Ottawa Fury FC, the Montreal Impact in their pre-MLS days and in Brazil.
In the same report, ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle also confirmed the rumor that Dutch coach Peter Bosz has been contacted by San Jose regarding their vacancy, which opened up with the dismissal of Mikael Stahre on Monday. Bosz most recently worked at German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund, enduring a star-crossed stint in charge of BVB that lasted less than a year. He carved out a more successful run at his previous spot, AFC Ajax, leading the Eredivisie heavyweights to the 2017 Europa League final.
Former Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter, Boca Juniors manager and Columbus Crew SC icon Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Stanford University head coach Jeremy Gunn have also been linked to the Quakes job.
Currently led by interim boss Steve Ralston, San Jose lost 2-0 to Dos Santos' LAFC at Banc of California Stadium on Saturday.
