TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Anthony Hudson’s Colorado Rapids renovation project will soon include experienced Scottish defender Danny Wilson, according to multiple British media reports.
The Scottish Sun was the first to report that Wilson, 26, is ready to leave Glasgow heavyweights Rangers FC to join the Rapids, with Rangers manager Graeme Murty subsequently telling multiple outlets that the center back flew to the United States on Friday to undergo a medical examination for Colorado and negotiate contract terms.
A former Scottish youth international with a handful of caps at senior level as well, Wilson can also play left back and is reportedly in the final months of his current contract, which is set to expire in the summer. He rose through Rangers’ youth system before transferring to Liverpool in 2010 in a deal reported at upwards of £2 million ($2.8 million) depending on performance-related add-ons.
Wilson didn’t manage to break into the English Premier League giants’ starting lineup, going out on several lower-division loan spells before returning to his homeland with Heart of Midlothian, where he grew into one of Scotland’s top defenders and eventually rejoined Rangers in 2015.
Entering their first year under Hudson, Colorado have made moves this winter, acquiring more than half a dozen new players – including defenders Deklan Wynne, Edgar Castillo, Kip Colvey and Tommy Smith – and reportedly shifting to a 3-5-2 formation.
