Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of contract with the LA Galaxy at the end of the 2019 MLS season, and his future at the club remains unclear.
General manager Dennis te Kloese, as reported by ESPN.com, has said the situation will be approached when the offseason comes around.
āWe've agreed that after the season we will evaluate and look calmly at his personal situation and that of the team,ā te Kloese told ESPN Deportes.
The Swedish striker has 26 goals and four assists through 25 games, surging near the top of the Golden Boot race. Thatās largely what's driving LAās quest to avoid missing the postseason for a third year running, as theyāre hunting a spot in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.
The Galaxy are well aware of the Designated Player's impact, underlined by his hat trick in the club's 7-2 win over Sporting Kansas City last weekend.
"Zlatan is a very special case," te Kloese said. "If you watched on Sunday how he helped the team, he is committed to the club, to the fans and it is very special, it's a luxury to have him."
Ibrahimovic recently called himself the ābest-everā player in MLS, sparking debates around the league. During 2018, his first season with the Galaxy, Ibrahimovic bagged 22 goals and 10 assists.
