TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
A day before the MLS Secondary Transfer Window closes, Vancouver Whitecaps FC have reportedly made a move to bolster their defense.
According to a report out of El Salvador, Roberto Dominguez will play the remainder of the season in Vancouver after his current team, Salvadorian side Santa Tecla, agreed to let him go as a free player and will not ask for any compensation in return.
The report also stated that the Whitecaps would acquire his rights through the end of the 2018 season with an option to negotiate a new contract in 2019.
Dominguez, a central defender, is only 21 but has made over 100 appearances for Santa Tecla since 2015 and has also earned 14 caps for the El Salvador national team.
The Whitecaps, currently four points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, face Toronto FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship on Wednesday (10 pm ET | TSN — Full TV & streaming Info) before a tough league trip to red-hot Portland on Saturday (11 pm ET | TSN — Full TV & streaming Info).
