The Vancouver Whitecaps are in “advanced” negotiations to acquire Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch, ESPN FC reported Friday.
ESPN’s Peter O’Rourke reported Friday that Vancouver are “confident” they’ll soon finalize a move for the former England U-21 international, who was reportedly close to moving to English Championship club Bolton Wanderers before the country’s transfer window shut earlier this week.
Mutch, 26, hasn’t made a single appearance with Crystal Palace this year, and has only made the bench three times for the English Premier League club. He had his best season in the 2013-14 campaign, when he recorded seven goals in 35 EPL appearances for Cardiff City. He’s played sparingly ever since, receiving limited time with Queens Park Rangers before moving to Crystal Palace in January 2015.
Vancouver are currently in Hawaii for the Pacific Rim Cup preseason tournament.
