TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Sporting Kansas City are reportedly on the verge of adding another attacking piece to their roster with midfielder Gadi Kinda apparently set to make the move from Beitar Jerusalem.
According to an Israeli report, the 25-year-old is on the verge of signing with Sporting on a four-year deal.
Kinda, who has seven goals in 17 matches in all competitions this season, wasn’t in Beitar Jerusalem’s lineup Monday against Maccabi Tel Aviv reportedly due to interest from SKC, as well as other clubs in Europe.
Sporting manager and sporting director Peter Vermes commented on potential signings during a press conference on Tuesday.
"We are not finished in trying to improve our team. We are working that way. We don’t have anything done yet. We still have some areas of need we believe," said Vermes. "Some of it is [for now], but also for the future that we’d like to acquire now because it would sort of give us a leg up. We’d already get them into our system and we could spend time with them.”
“This isn’t one of those ones where I say, ‘Oh yeah, things can happen.’ We’re really working to making a couple of acquisitions. They won’t be here before the preseason starts, but hopefully if we can get those done they’ll see us at the end of this first phase or maybe in the second.”
The attacking midfielder made the move to Beitar Jerusalem from FC Ashdod last February. Born in Ethiopia, Kinda has competed for the Israeli U-18, U-19 and U-21 sides, scoring three youth international goals. He’s yet to feature for the senior national team.
