TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
A recently rumored pursuit could be coming to a close, as Monarcas Morelia bid farewell to striker Raul Ruidiaz on social media, indicating he would be headed to the Seattle Sounders:
While the Sounders were previously linked to Ruidiaz by Niko Moreno of Sounder at Heart, and team executives have publicly acknowledged their pursuit of a high-caliber striker on the transfer market, MLSsoccer.com National Writer Sam Stejskal pumped the brakes on news regarding the 27-year-old Peruvian.
Ruidiaz, who has scored 34 goals during the last two calendar years in Liga MX, would provide an immediate boost to Seattle's foundering attack. Following Seattle's 2-1 loss at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, head coach Brian Schmetzer offered the following reponse:
“I’m not aware of that tweet, so thank you for letting me know. I’ll have to obviously get it from my upper management or my people before I take their word," he said. "We hope to have a player of his caliber join our team, for sure, but I’ll wait until it’s official.”
