TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Erik Ayuk looked like an intriguing prospect for the Philadelphia Union when, as an 18-year-old in 2015, he had two goals and two assists in 1,320 minutes.
But the Cameroonian winger played in only one game for the Union since then, spending most of 2016 on loan with USL affiliate Bethlehem Steel FC and the entire 2017 campaign on loan in Sweden for Jönköpings Södra IF.
And now it looks like his tenure in Philly may be coming to an end.
According to a report out of Turkey, Ayuk is close to finalizing a deal with Turkish club Trabzonspor. A Union representative confirmed that Ayuk is exploring opportunities overseas but added that no deal has been completed.
If a deal is made, it would free up an international roster spot for the Union, who currently have all seven of theirs filled.
After an idle weekend, the Union play in Portland against the Timbers on Saturday (11 pm ET | TV & Streaming Info) before hosting the Chicago Fire in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Aug. 8.
