TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The Houston Dynamo vowed they would address their shortcomings on the defensive side of the ball in 2019 and according to Italian media reports, they might be set to add an experienced central defender.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Palermo center back Aljaz Struna has agreed on a four-year transfer to the Dynamo and will be leaving the Italian second division ahead of his contract expiring in June 2019.
Struna is a Slovenian international defender (12 caps), whose last appearance for his country came in a 1-1 draw against Norway on November 16 in UEFA Nations League action. He started his club career with FC Koper in his native Slovenia before joining Palermo in 2012 and playing for other Italian clubs on loan.
The TuttoMercatoWeb article indicated Struna will be giving a final farewell to his Palermo teammates on December 30.
On December 21 the Dynamo added Argentine central midfielder Matias Vera to provide greater defensive cover and that move came four days after they landed right back Chris Duvall. The club has also been linked to Honduran right back Kevin Alvarez.
The Dynamo were 9th in goals allowed in 2018 (58 conceded) and finished 11 points from a postseason berth.
