TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Add another potential twist to the transfer speculation saga for Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle United might move on from their pursuit of the midfielder, citing an inability for the Premier League side to strike a deal on the transfer fee.
Earlier in December, reports surfaced that Newcastle's deal for Almiron was nearing an endpoint, with the Paraguayan estimated to be the most expensive signing in his country's history.
ATL UTD president Darren Eales joined ExtraTime Radio a couple weeks ago to shed light on his club's position in regards to selling Almiron.
"It'll be interesting ... Miggy is under contract for another three years," Eales told Andrew Wiebe. "We've got an owner who likes winning and has had a taste of success. We know that we don't have to sell the player but clearly the way that we've built the club, the way that we've brought the young players in, if the right offer comes in [selling him] is something we'd consider."
