Following a hint over the weekend that the New England Revolution were aiming to sign a forward as a Designated Player, comes a new report identifying a target in that quest.
The Athletic's Sam Stejskal reported on Monday that the Revolution are nearing a deal to sign Polish striker Adam Buksa, per multiple unnamed sources.
Buksa, 23, has spent his entire career to date in his native Poland, making his debut with Lechia Gdansk before playing for Zaglebie Lubin and currently Pogon Szczecin, and has been a fairly consistent scoring option last season and this term. A Polish youth international, he is on the cusp of making his senior team debut, having been called up, but not making an appearance, for a UEFA Nations League tilt last year.
The Revolution have one Designated Player striker in Gustavo Bou and a DP playmaker in Carles Gil, but among Eastern Conference teams to reach the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs they scored the second-fewest goals, with 50 in 34 regular-season games.
The Revolution's 2020 season kicks off Feb. 29 at the Montreal Impact.
