Could Colombia be a hunting ground for Minnesota United's new playmaker? That's the report from Paul Tenorio, who tweeted on Thursday that the Loons have entered a bid for Deportivo Cali midfielder Nicolas Benedetti.
Benedetti, 20, has spent his entire pro career to date with his hometown side. Nicknamed "The Poet," Benedetti made his debut for Deportivo in 2015, and has won one league title with the club and has played in both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, the two regional club tournaments in South America.
Never capped by Colombia, Benedetti appears to be on the verge of the national team set-up, as he was on the preliminary roster for the 2015 Copa America Centenario tournament, but did not make the cut for the final squad.
Minnesota United kick off the 2018 MLS regular season on March 3 on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes (10:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE).
