Sacha Kljestan is headed home.
At least, that's what the latest rotation of the the transfer-window rumor mill is grinding out.
Soccer By Ives reported on Wednesday that the LA Galaxy are pursuing a loan move for the slick central midfielder from Huntington Beach, California, who has lately fallen out of favor at his Belgian club Anderlecht. LA were previously connected to Kljestan by Belgian media reports in May.
Citing anonymous sources, SBI stated that the US national team pool member and former Chivas USA star would be returning to SoCal on a six-month loan move – initially, at least – that would involve Designated Player-level wages, but on account of his midseason arrival, could be paid down via allocation money.
Because the league and club received a transfer fee when Kljestan was sold to Anderlecht in 2010, he would be subject to the MLS allocation order. On Tuesday, the Galaxy moved up to the third slot in that process by trading defender Kofi Opare to D.C. United and swapping allocation spots with the Eastern Conference club.
Known for his vision and passing range, Kljeston can fill multiple midfield roles. He holds 46 national-team caps and was called into the squad by Jurgen Klinsmann earlier this year but missed out on a World Cup roster spot.
