TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Barcelona and Uruguay national team striker Luis Suarez has an offer from first-year club Inter Miami, according to Barcelona-based outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Suarez is under contract with Barca through June 2021, likely requiring a significant transfer fee for any early departure for the La Liga powerhouse. The report also states that Suarez hopes to stay with Barca beyond his current deal.

The 33-year-old has won four La Liga titles and one Champions League title since moving to Barca from Liverpool in 2014. Suarez has 196 goals in 281 games with the Catalan giants, and also has 59 goals in 113 games for his country.

He’s no stranger to MLS links, with Uruguay teammate and Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro previously saying “it's only a matter of time” before Suarez comes to the league. As for the forward himself, he’s been heavily linked with MLS in the past and called it an “attractive league” that “any player would be interested in.”

Should Suarez come to MLS, he’d immediately become one of the league’s top strikers. He’d also be the club’s second marquee signing after Rodolfo Pizarro joined last winter from Monterrey. Miami have also been linked to some of the world's biggest names, including forwards Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao, as well midfielder James Rodriguez, with the presence of co-owner David Beckham leading to widespread global interest.

“Given that I have been lucky to have had success at the top level for a long time, what I would look out for is stability for my family and the well-being of my children,” Suarez previously said. “They would all make the decision along with me and the United States is a nice possibility."

Inter Miami are 0-5 in their early MLS days and finished last in Group A at the MLS is Back Tournament. They're awaiting a possible restart to the 2020 season, with the adjusted Secondary Transfer Window running from Aug. 12 through Oct. 29.
