TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Inter Miami could make a veteran Mexican international a key cornerstone of their backline, according to a new report from Medio Tiempo.
Hector Moreno is the player in question, a left-footed center back currently at La Liga side Real Sociedad, his fifth club in Europe since transferring from Pumas UNAM to Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar a little over a decade ago. A starter on Mexico’s 2018 World Cup squad, he’s earned nearly 100 caps for El Tri to date.
Medio Tiempo reports that Inter and Moreno are in “advanced talks” about a move to Miami, a destination apparently favored by the player and his family, who recently acquired a residence in the city. Moreno, who turned 31 in January, would be a Designated Player for David Beckham’s expansion project, which is slated to enter MLS next year.
Moreno is reportedly under contract at Sociedad through the 2020/21 season, though MT posit that he could sign with Miami as early as this summer, which would likely lead to a loan move for the second half of 2019. Alternately, he could leave Spain during the 2020 winter transfer window and still be part of Inter’s first preseason.
