HOUSTON – Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric was arrested Sunday for felony assault on a public servant, the Houston Chronicle is reporting. Deric is accused of “causing bodily injury” to a Houston law enforcement officer at the Roosevelt Lounge in downtown Houston.
"The Houston Dynamo organization is aware of the recent matter involving Tyler Deric," the Dynamo said in a statement released to MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "We take these issues extremely seriously. This is an ongoing legal matter, so we will reserve further comment at this time. We will continue to monitor the developments closely."
The Chronicle is reporting the goalkeeper was released on $5,000 bail.
Deric, who is in the last year of his contract, has seen his stock rise as a backup goalkeeper with Houston and has routinely been praised by Dynamo coaches. The 6-foot-3 ‘keeper was on route to Los Angeles with the Dynamo on Tuesday afternoon and was unable to be reached for comment. While in LA, the club is slated to play four exhibition games at the Home Depot Center.
