TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
With Columbus Crew SC getting ready to begin a new chapter in their history, a new report suggests they will be adding reinforcements to the 2019 roster from Brazil.
Massive Report reported on Tuesday that the Crew will be signing 23-year-old winger Robinho Barbosa, and he is expected to land in the United States any day now to complete the deal.
Robinho has spent much of his career under contract to Brazilian first-division club Ceara, but he has also played for a succession of Brazilian clubs on loan, including lower division sides Confiança, Novo Hamburgo, Cuiaba and Santa Cruz. In the 2018 calendar year, he made 40 appearances across five competitions for Ceara and Santa Cruz, scoring eight goals. The youngster is not to be confused with another player named Robinho, a former Real Madrid star, who is playing professionally in Turkey at the moment and is 34.
Crew SC, now under new management in team president Tim Bezbatchenko and head coach Caleb Porter, kick off their 2019 MLS regular season campaign on March 2 against the New York Red Bulls at MAPFRE Stadium.
