Chivas USA have secured the transfer of Ecuadorian striker Felix Borja, according to a tweet from the player's current club in Ecuador.
Calling the transaction “official,” LDU Quito tweeted out the news of the transfer on Tuesday evening and wished Borja well.
The 31-year-old striker played for Ecuador in the 2006 World Cup and subsequently moved from El Nacional in his homeland to Greek powerhouse Olympiacos.
Nicknamed “the Kangaroo” for his aerial abilities, Borja went on to a successful stint at Mainz in Germany before relocating to Mexico, where he played for Puebla and Pachuca.
He made one appearance in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, a 3-0 loss to the host nation.
A Chivas USA spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday that the club will only comment on players currently on the team's roster.
If the report is accurate, Borja would offer welcome reinforcements for a Goats attack which revolves around Erick “Cubo” Torres and has scored just one goal in the last three games, all losses.
