Serie A strugglers Reggina and Bologna played out an entertaining draw although a point apiece was not enough to see either side climb out of the relegation zone.
Bologna will be the happier of the two after twice coming from behind to claim a share of the spoils.
Bernardo Corradi and Edgar Barreto scored for Reggina with Francesco Valiani and Marco Di Vaio replying for the visitors with all four goals coming in a frantic 20 minute spell either side of half-time.
Former Italy striker Di Vaio was a constant threat to the Reggina defence and his trickery created the first chance after 11 minutes, Valiani seeing his shot blocked.
Reggina responded by forcing Bologna keeper Francesco Antonioli into action. Visiting defender Vangelis Moras dawdled on the ball, allowing Franco Brienza to claim possession but his ensuing shot was straight at Antonioli.
Bologna came again with defender Miguel Britos powering a header against the bar with Andrea Campagnolo in the Reggina goal a spectator.
Antonioli was called into action again after 20 minutes, parrying Brienza's shot round the post for a corner.
The keeper distinguished himself for a third time 11 minutes later with a block to deny the unfortunate Brienza.
However, the Reggina pressure finally told six minutes before the break when a goalmouth scramble ended with Brienza teeing up Corradi and the former Manchester City striker made no mistake with a crisp finish into the far corner.
Bologna should have gone in at half-time on level terms but Adailton flashed a shot wide when well placed.
An equalizer was not long in coming following the restart though.
Cristian Zenoni escaped down the right before whipping in a cross which Valiani converted with a volley which took a slight deflection on its way past Campagnolo.
Parity lasted just four minutes as Reggina hit back to restore their advantage with a goal straight from the training ground.
The ball was worked back to Barreto from a corner and the Paraguay international lashed it past Antonioli from 30 yards.
Bologna came again and equalised for a second time on the hour mark.
Valiani this time turned provider with a pass to Di Vaio which the diminutive striker took on the volley with his effort flying into the net.
Reggina were the more likely side to win it in the closing stages although the home crowd showed their displeasure when coach Nevio Orlandi opted to replace Corradi with Davide Di Gennaro.
But Orlandi almost had the last laugh as his side created two opportunities in the final 10 minutes.
First, Antonioli had to be alert to get down well to keep out a shot from Carlos Carmona from the edge of the area.
And with time almost up, only a fine block from Bologna defender Nicola Mingazzini prevented Reggina's Bruno Cirillo from grabbing a late winner.
