Red Bull Academy Update: June 22

A LOOK BACK:
U20s:

On Wednesday night, June 17, the U20s defeated in-state rival U20 PDA, 6-0. Walter Hines (Brooklyn, NY) and Widner Saint-Cyr (Irvington, NJ) each scored twice and Sam Archer (Springfield Garden, NY) and Andrew Welker (Mechanicsburg, PA) also scored to lead the Red Bulls to a comfortable victory. Sheldon Parkinson (Bronx, NY) earned the clean sheet in goal.

"We got it going pretty well tonight and controlled the game from start to finish," said U20 head coach Rob Elliott. "It was good to translate all of the possession we had into goals tonight."


On Saturday, June 20, the U20s improved to 5-0-0 on the season following a 2-0, rain-soaked, win on the road against U20 TSF Academy. Goals from Archer and Ryan Kinne (Naugatuck, CT) proved to be the difference in the match. Parkinson saved a penalty kick and recorded his second straight shutout for the Red Bulls.


U18s: The Red Bull U18s did not play this week.


U16s: The Red Bull U16s did not play this week as they prepare for the US Development Academy League playoffs this weekend at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro, NC.


1993/1994 Team: A group of 1993, 1994 and two 1995 Red Bull Academy players took on the U15 US National Team on Thursday night, June 18, coming away with a 2-1 victory. Sam Adjei (Newark, NJ) scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game to help the Red Bulls to the win. Max Brown (New York, NY) and Santiago Castano (Union City, NJ) split halves in goal for the victory.


"This was a great opportunity for us to see some of our players against the best players in the country," said head coach Rob Elliott. "Any time you beat a National Team it is rewarding for our players. It was a very enjoyable game for the players to be a part of and there was a high level of soccer played by both teams."


U15s: The U15 Red Bulls defeated Seacoast United by the score of 2-0, on Sunday June 21, in Newark, New Jersey in US Club Northeast Pre Academy League play. After a scoreless first half dominated by the Red Bulls, it was a Travis Wantchekon (New York, NY) goal from a Fadil Paljevic (Brooklyn, NY) pass in the 60th minute that broke the tie. Just eight minutes later Fumio Himeno (Ft. Lee, NJ) made a nice solo run, weaving his way past several defenders on his way to slotting home the second goal of the game.


The U15s continue to play well, going 2-0-1 in there last three US Club Northeast Pre Academy League games, keeping a clean sheet in all three matches.


"We continue to mature both as individuals and as a team, I could not be happier," said U15 head coach Stan Lembryk.


U14s: On Sunday, June 21, the U14s defeated U14 Seacoast United, 4-0, in US Club Northeast Pre Academy League action. Nick Innocenzi (Franklin Lakes, NJ), Kit Alexieff (West Nyack, NY), Fardeen Shawaney (Parsippany, NJ), and Luis Munoz (New York, NY) were the goal scorers for the Red Bulls.
