A LOOK BACK:

U20s:
On Saturday, May 30, the U20s got their season off to a good start, cruising to a 5-1 victory over visiting U20 Perugia. Two goals from Sam Petrone (Glen Rock, NJ), and one each from Steven Amaya (Queens, NY), Ryan Kinne (Naugatuck, CT), and Mario Rios (Morristown, NJ) were more than enough to get goalkeeper Sheldon Parkinson (Bronx, NY) the victory in goal.

"It was good to get the season off to a good start," said U20 head coach Rob Elliott. "Considering we have only trained once or twice, it was a good performance."

U18s: The U18 Red Bulls defeated the U18 Baltimore Bays by a score of 4-2 on Sunday, May 31 in US Developmental Academy League play.

After a scoreless first half, the game completely opened up in the second half with the Red Bulls getting on the score sheet first. In the 58th minute Mark Brode (East Setauket, NY) opened the scoring from a Cesar Blacido (Ramsey, NJ) corner kick. However, the lead was short lived as, two minutes later, the Baltimore Bays also converted from a corner kick to draw even. In the 64th minute, substitute Zachary Gomez (Flemington, NJ) finished from a Walter Hines (Brooklyn, NY) through ball. The goal of the game came in the 70th minute as Giorgi Chirgadze (Brooklyn, NY) curled in a left footed shot into the far corner from 25 yards out from a Gomez pass. Then in the 72nd minute, substitute Dragan Naumoski (Fair Lawn, NJ) finished neatly off a pass from Dylan Mencia (Honesdale, PA). Baltimore scored a late goal to make the final score 4-2 for the Red Bulls.

"We put together a really good second half," stated U18 coach Paul O'Donnell. "We scored four really good goals in a span of 14 minutes. A lot of the credit has to go to the substitutes who immediately impacted the game. Zachary Gomez came in and played really well for us. The win was crucial today as it keeps our slim play-off hopes alive."

U16s: On Sunday, May 31, the U16s clinched first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the US Development Academy League after earning a point with a 2-2 draw with U16 Baltimore Bays. After falling behind, 2-0, after the first ten minutes, the Red Bulls rallied and responded with a goal in each half to pull even. George Velasquez (Union City, NJ) scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Sam Adjei (Newark, NJ) to get the Red Bulls back in the game. After missing a penalty kick in the first half, the U16s converted their second penalty of the game as Victor Manosalvas (Clifton, NJ) slotted the ball in to tie the game. The U16s had several chances to win the game but were unable to convert.

"Today we clinched first placed in our division and completed the season undefeated at home," said U16 head coach Rob Elliot. "I am proud of our guys and they have earned everything they have achieved so far."

U15s: The U15 Red Bulls reversed an early season defeat with an impressive 2-0 away win over U15 Albertson SC in US Club Northeast Pre Academy League play on Sunday, May 31.

Travis Wantchekon (Brooklyn, NY) opened the scoring in the 30th minute off an excellent build up, resulting with a neat Fumio Himeno (Ft. Lee, NJ) through pass and a goal. Jixian Shen (Queens, NY) completed the scoring with a perfectly placed long ranged shot from 30 yards out in the 58th minute to seal the game. Matt Deziel (Wyckoff, NJ) saved a penalty kick in the 15th minute and Matt Stith (Montclair, NJ) made four saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

"I thought the team played very well," said U15 head coach Stan Lembryk. "We played strong defense and created good scoring opportunities. This was a good result for us showing team's progress since the beginning of the season."

U14s: The U14 Red Bulls dropped a 2-0 decision to U14 Alberston on Sunday, May 31 in US Club Northeast Pre Academy League play. The Red Bulls had the better of the chances in the first half but failed to convert them. In the second half, Albertson scored against the run of play from outside the box. As the Red Bulls pushed for the equalizer in the late stages of the match, Albertson countered and scored the second goal to provide the final margin.
