Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando makes 400th MLS regular-season appearance

He didn’t do it in the style he would’ve wanted, but Nick Rimando hit a major career milestone on Saturday, notching his 400th MLS regular-season appearance in Real Salt Lake’s 5-2 loss at LA.

The veteran goalkeeper, now in his 17th year in the league, is second in MLS history in regular-season games played, trailing only Kevin Hartman for the all-time lead. Hartman racked up 416 appearances in net before retiring following the 2013 season.

Barring injury or any lengthy international absence, Rimando should break Hartman’s record sometime this summer. The earliest he could tie the mark is on August 3 at Toronto FC, while the soonest he could break the record would be RSL's following game, on August 7 at home vs. Chicago.
