Real Salt Lake defender Boyd Okwuonu has been named to the US U-23 national team for the upcoming CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship to replace Eric Miller, who has returned to the Montreal Impact due to injury.
The roster change, announced Thursday ahead of the US’ tournament opener against Canada at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., came 24 hours prior to the first tournament match as allowed by CONCACAF rules. According to the U.S. Soccer release, Miller returned to his club due to a groin injury.
Okwuonu, a second-round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft who has made three appearances for RSL this season, has made eight appearances with the U-23's this year.
