Real Salt Lake and the Portland Timbers square off for the second time in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs when the Western Conference foes clash in a Round One showdown Oct. 19 at 10 pm ET from Rio Tinto Stadium.
RSL earned the No. 3 seed, and the home playoff game, following a 1-0 Decision Day presented by AT&T win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Damir Kreilach scored the lone goal in the 28th minute as the Claret-and-Cobalt ended the regular season with consecutive victories.
The sixth-seeded Timbers secure their spot in the postseason with a 3-1 Decision Day win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Dairon Asprilla broke a 1-1 stalemate in the 59th minute and Sebastian Blanco added an insurance goal in the 75th minute.
The Timbers swept a pair of regular-season meetings, winning 2-1 at RioT May 4 and 1-0 at Providence Park August 31. The winner faces either the Seattle Sounders or FC Dallas in the Western Conference Semifinals Oct. 23 at 10:00 pm ET.
