Real Salt Lake are looking to extend their winning streak to a season-high three games, but it won't be easy as the defending MLS Cup champion Atlanta United come to Rio Tinto Stadium trying to bounce back from a stinging defeat to the New York Red Bulls.
Even without Designated Player Sam Johnson, who was left off the gameday 18-man roster because of disciplinary reasons, Real Salt Lake (5-6-1) rolled to a 3-0 win over Toronto FC Saturday at the RioT. Damir Kreilach and Sebastian Saucedo scored inside the opening 30 minutes and Jefferson Savarino tacked on a third on the hour mark, just before Alejandro Pozuelo was sent off for his second bookable offense as the Reds ended the game with 10 men.
Atlanta (6-4-2) played with an extra man for 55 minutes after Tim Parker was sent off for DOGSO, but not only couldn't capitalize, but also conceded the decisive goal in a 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls Sunday at Red Bull Arena. Tom Barlow came off the bench to score the winner, his first MLS goal, when he headed a Danny Royer cross back across the goal and in.
