Real Salt Lake have announced âThe RSL Way,â a document that the clubâs front office developed and is intended to lead their future identity, both on and off the field.
This comes after owner Dell Loy Hansen announced last August plans to sell the club. The club is part of Utah Soccer Holdings, which includes Real Salt Lake (MLS), Utah Royals SC (NWSL) and Real Monarchs (USL).
âThe RSL Wayâ defines its mission statement as looking to lead and inspire the soccer culture in Utah. It also defines core values as pride, community, industry, harmony and integrity â five areas that are outlined as unwavering pillars of the club, regardless of any cultural changes.
âThis is our moral compass for moving forward,â assistant general manager Tony Beltran said to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Beltran, who made 245 appearances for RSL during the 2008-19 seasons, penned âThe RSL Wayâ alongside other members of the front office. Other areas it addresses are a code of ethics, on-field philosophy and front office philosophy. The latter portion has three pillars: development, integrate and inclusive.
âAnything less than this isnât good enough and isnât going to be acceptable by all of us within or by our fan base as well,â Beltran said. âThis is what Real Salt Lake deserves.â
RSL entered MLS as an expansion club in 2005, winning the 2009 MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield in 2010. The club plays at Rio Tinto Stadium, a soccer-specific ground in Sandy, Utah. For more on âThe RSL Way,â check out the complete document here.
