SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake Owner David W. Checketts today announced that the Real Madrid training session being held Friday, August 11 from 10 - 12:00 noon MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium will be open to the Utah sports community free-of-charge as a gesture of gratitude for their unwavering support. Fans wishing to witness 'the Galacticos' training session led by Head Coach Fabio Capello that includes soccer superstars like David Beckham, Roberto Carlos & Raul, may do so by entering Gate "D" and occupying a seat on the west side sections W6 through W14 of Rice-Eccles Stadium.
"We want to make sure that as many people as possible from our community have the chance to view the greatest athletes in the world," said RSL Owner David W. Checketts. "Saturday's game will be a landmark event in the sporting history of our state, and with a capacity crowd expected; we owe it to our community to have this opportunity."
Real Salt Lake will precede Real Madrid with practice at 9:00 a.m. MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium. RSL's practice with be open to the general public as are all practice sessions per club policy.
"XanGo Cup" merchandise stands will be open featuring the latest styles of Real Madrid and Real Salt Lake gear as will concessions stands with food and beverage. Fans attending this special practice will be going through the customary bag screening and security measures at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Though more than 40,000 tickets have already been sold for Saturday's XanGo Cup, with the $109 and $29 sections having sold out, a limited number of good seats are still available starting at just $49.
