Real Salt Lake 3, Chicago Fire 1 | 2016 MLS Match Recap

Nick Rimando is probably the best goalkeeper in MLS history. And now he has the record to prove it.

Rimando passed Kevin Hartman for most all-time wins in MLS history, getting his 181st on Saturday night against the Chicago Fire as Real Salt Lake cruised to a 3-1 win.

Javier Morales was the star, scoring two goals and assisting on the opener. RSL's first came through Olmes Garcia, whose wormburner fooled a screened Matt Lampson.

Morales bagged his first at the penalty spot after Eric Gehrig fouled Juan Manuel Martinez in the box. Morales' second came in spectacular fashion, blowing past Fire midfielder Razvan Cocis and knocking a ball off the post and in with this left foot.

Arturo Alvarez briefly provided life for the Fire in the 58th minute, finishing off a perfect cross from Nick LaBrocca.

Three Things

WALL OF THE WASATCH: Nick Rimando wasn’t asked to do much on Saturday night, having to make just four saves, but that has not been true in the past. Rimando has proven to be one of the best goalkeepers in MLS history, despite never winning a Goalkeeper of the Year award, as he now has the most wins and shutouts in league history.

DUELING MOTIVATIONS: Sitting at the bottom of the standings and unlikely to secure a playoff berth, the Chicago Fire have a lot of their focus on Tuesday’s U.S. Open Cup semifinal against the New England Revolution (8pm ET; ESPN2). Because of that it was a little surprising to see the Fire’s attacking stars, David Accam and Michael de Leeuw, in Veljko Paunovic’s starting lineup. The two ended up being pulled at halftime, with Chicago trailing 2-0.

JAVI MO-MENTUM:
There’s little doubt that Javier Morales is one of the best playmakers MLS has ever seen, but he has not had a great 2016 at 36-years-old. Yet he scored against Toronto last week and added two more on Saturday night, including this one:
