Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez said he wants to play in MLS, telling fans in a Q&A session on Bleacher Report that he sees the league as a destination for himself at some point in his career.
Vazquez evidently follows US sports closely, saying he's an avid fan of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and former Spanish NBA star Pau Gasol, among others.
"It would be incredible. I would love to play in the MLS someday," Vazquez told one questioner, also saying: "I see other athletes as inspiration. Rafa Nadal, Pau Gasol or Fernando Alonso are great examples for young people and everyone. I love basketball and I like tennis. I love LeBron James' teams."
That would certainly be a big addition to the league, should it ever come to pass.
Vazquez has tons of pedigree as a Real Madrid stalwart since coming up through the club's academy, making 136 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He also has nine senior caps for Spain's national team since debuting in 2016. Playing for the Spanish giants has allowed him to contribute to the club's jam-packed trophy case, which includes three UEFA Champions League crowns since he's been on the team, as well as a La Liga title in 2016-2017.
