Rapids complete local broadcast schedule

The Colorado Rapids announced Friday a completion to the club's 2009 local television broadcast schedule. In addition to the previously announced 24 local broadcasts by Altitude Sports & Entertainment, the Rapids have secured an additional four local broadcasts with Universal Sports.

With this announcement, every Rapids game outside of the national television broadcasts will be telecast locally for the rest of the 2009 season.

"By having this agreement with both Altitude and Universal Sports, we feel we are in the best position to offer our fans the most complete coverage of our club throughout the remainder of the 2009 season," said Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush.

"9news is proud to be able to showcase the Colorado Rapids on our new Universal Sports channel," said KUSA President and General Manager Mark Cornetta. "The Rapids play the world's game and Universal Sports is an excellent outlet to bring that passion and experience to our local viewers starting with this weekend's match."

Universal Sports will air four of Colorado's matches, starting with this Sunday's game against the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium with kickoff at 1:00 pm MT.

Universal Sports is available on NBC Affiliate KUSA-TV over-the-air on channel 9.3 and on Comcast channel 250 in Denver and the surrounding areas. The 24-hour television network is available in more than 45 million TV homes and in eight of the top 10 U.S. markets.
