Drawing inspiration from their inaugural primary kit in 2011 and their 2019 striped jersey, the Portland Timbers unveiled their new 2021 primary jersey on Tuesday.
The jersey features a split green color design and chevrons down the middle of the shirt, with founding partner Alaska Airlines remaining their main jersey sponsor. The jock tag displays “Soccer City USA” on the jersey's bottom left, while “King of Clubs” is inscribed along the neck tape as a nod to the Timbers Army tifo from 2011. This is the fourth time Portland have worn a collared jersey with buttons.
The Timbers, along with the NWSL’s Portland Thorns FC, have also announced a multi-year strategic partnership that includes being the official jersey sleeve partner for both clubs in 2021. TikTok’s logo will be included on the right sleeve of kits worn in-game, authentic jerseys and other retail merchandise.
“TikTok is one of the world’s leading content and entertainment platforms and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a dynamic global brand,” Mike Golub, Timbers and Thorns FC president of business, said in a release. “The partnership is groundbreaking to have equal TikTok representation on both Timbers and Thorns jersey sleeves, and it will give us a unique ability to create and distribute content in collaboration with TikTok. We are very proud that TikTok chose our clubs as two of their first team sponsorship deals in the US.”
As part of the TikTok partnership, Portland will collaborate to produce weekly content on the social media platform. Players will be club ambassadors and influencers as TikTok content creators, including midfielder Eryk Williamson.
The Timbers’ new jersey will go on sale Tuesday, March 2 at 12 pm ET on MLSstore.com/PortlandTimbers. Information about availability in-store at Providence Park will follow at a later date.
