Things are heating up in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs race, but only two verdicts were handed down in Week 31.

FC Dallas became the first team in the Western Conference to clinch a playoff berth with their 0-0 tie in Portland in Week 31.

Sporting Kansas City missed out on a chance to become the second team to secure a playoff spot in the West by failing to beat Real Salt Lake in the Week 31 capper on Sunday.

In the East, the NY Red Bulls clinched a first-round bye in Week 31 thanks to rival NYCFC's loss in Minnesota on Saturday. The result ensures RBNY will finish in one of the top two spots in the Eastern Conference and avoid the Knockout Round.
