TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The Philadelphia Union have signed midfielder Cole Turner to a pre-contract, meaning the 18-year-old academy product will become the Union's 11th Homegrown signing on January 1, 2020, the club announced Wednesday.
Turner has signed a deal with the club's USL affiliate Bethlehem Steel, effective immediately, for the remainder of 2019. He had already made 11 appearances for the club this season.
“We are very happy to have completed the signing of Cole Turner,” sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a statement. “He has a strong knowledge of the game and a sharp awareness — the type of player who always seems to be in the right position in central midfield. He is an exciting young prospect and we are looking forward to helping him grow as a professional.”
The midfielder made 65 appearances (52 starts), scoring eight goals, during his time with Philly's academy. Internationally, the midfielder has also received a call-up from the US Under-14 boys’ national team.
