They may not include the household names of the Brazilian national team, but Peru will have plenty of players to keep the USMNT’s hands full in their upcoming friendly.
Peru, who will take on the US on Sept. 4 at Washington D.C.’s RFK Stadium, announced their 23-man roster Friday, featuring most of the players from their team that placed third at this summer’s Copa America, including the likes of Flamengo striker Paolo Guerrero, Al-Jazira attacker Jefferson Farfan (pictured above) and Real Betis midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas.
Longtime forward Claudio Pizarro, the former Bayern Munich star who is currently unattached, was left off the roster.
The match against Peru comes four days prior to the USMNT’s meeting with 2014 World Cup hosts and fourth-place finishers Brazil, both preparation for their Oct. 10 Confederations Cup playoff vs. Mexico at the Rose Bowl.
