CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Eurosport, Kwik Goal and local sponsor Western Union all join forces to bring the USSF Passback Program to the Galaxy's home game on Saturday, September 11 against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Galaxy fans attending that evening's match are invited to donate "used but usable" soccer equipment to the collection - which will benefit local soccer organizations in Southern California.
"The Passback Program is the ideal chance for our fans to give back to the sport that has given all of us so much," said Galaxy President Doug Hamilton. "We strongly encourage everyone attending the match on September 11 to do what they can to support this worthy cause."
The donated soccer gear - jerseys, shorts, shoes, balls and shin guards are all acceptable - can be dropped off at any one of several locations throughout The Home Depot Center on the day of the match: the U.S. Soccer Foundation booth at SBC Soccer Fest as well as the Southwest, Northwest and Northeast ticket gates.
In addition to the equipment being donated by fans attending the match, Western Union has pledged to contribute jerseys, shorts, shin guards and shoes as part of their local support of the Passback Program.
The U.S. Soccer Foundation is developing the sport of soccer across America through innovative partnerships and grants that help underwrite support soccer programs and field development. Since its creation in 1994, the Foundation has put more than $30 million into the sport nationwide. For more information of the Foundation's programs, visit www.usoccerfoundation.org.
