Orlando City SC look to extend an unbeaten streak to four matches and move closer to the playoff line in the Eastern Conference when they host a New York Red Bulls smarting from a midweek defeat in Toronto.
Orlando (7-9-5) established a lead late in the first half that held until late in the second half in a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers at Providence Park Thursday night. After defending for much of the opening 45 minutes, Santiago Patino gave the Lions the stunning lead in the 44th minute before Jeremy Ebobisse leveled eight minutes from full time.
After an emotional New York Derby win, the Red Bulls (9-8-4) suffered a 3-1 defeat to Toronto FC at BMO Field Wednesday. Jozy Altidore scored the opening goal with an audacious back heel in the 6th minute before Alejandro Pozuelo doubled the lead from the penalty spot 20 minutes later. Tom Barlow gave the visitors a lifeline in the 63d minute, but Ashtone Morgan capitalized on a defensive blunder between Michael Amir Murillo and Luis Robles, pouncing on a ball and slipping in the insurance goal in the 72nd minute.
In the first meeting this season at Red Bull Arena, Sacha Kljestan burned his former club with his first goal of the season with the 73rd-minute winner in a 1-0 road victory.
