Orlando City SC look to push into the top tier of the Eastern Conference when they host the reeling Columbus Crew Saturday night at Exploria Stadium.
Currently one point below the playoff line in the East standings, Orlando (6-9-4) appeared on the verge of avenging a 3-1 home loss to the Philadelphia Union, but instead settled for a 2-2 draw at Talen Energy Stadium in the second match of a home-and-home. After falling behind on a Marco Fabian goal inside of four minutes, Dom Dwyer and Santiago Patino struck for second-half tallies to give the Lions a late 2-1 lead. But Kacper Przybylko scored even later, netting the 90th-minute equalizer.
Playoff hopes for Columbus (5-13-2) are fading fast after a 2-1 home defeat to the Seattle Sounders was the club's fourth consecutive and eighth consecutive game without a win. Pedro Santos scored from the penalty spot to give Crew SC an early lead, but Nico Lodeiro leveled with a 56th-minute penalty kick and won it deep in stoppage time with his second goal.
This is the second meeting this year, with Orlando City SC winning 2-0 at MAPFRE Stadium June 29 on goals by Chris Mueller and Tesho Akindele in each half.
