Orlando City may have missed out on the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, but the Lions haven’t played their last match of 2015.
Orlando announced on Tuesday that they’ll take on Brazilian club Flamengo in a friendly at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Nov. 15. The Lions, who are owned by Brazilian Flavio Augusto da Silva, will travel to Brazil for the match on Nov. 12.
"Orlando City will take on one of the most storied clubs in the world, in one of the most prestigious temples of soccer in the world," Orlando City CEO Alex Leitao said in a club statement. "Orlando City is the most popular MLS team in Brazil, and this will be an unforgettable match for supporters to watch. This is also an excellent opportunity to further grow the popularity of our brand overseas, as so many Brazilians travel to Orlando each and every year."
Oddly enough, Brazilian superstar Kaká will not be with the Lions for the match, as he was called in to the Brazilian national team for World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru on Nov. 12 and Nov. 17.
Orlando City has not yet released a traveling roster for the friendly.
