It's been an offseason of movement within the Orlando City front office and technical staff, and that trend continued on Friday.
The team announced that Vice President of Development Tim Holt has left the club to become managing director for the new USL franchise in San Antonio. Holt will oversee all facets of the operation, including franchise business operations, and will directly collaborate with head coach Darren Powell on player personnel decisions.
Orlando also made an addition to their coaching staff, announcing that Bobby Murphy will join the club as an assistant coach and the Technical Coordinator for City’s Academy program.
The moves come after general manager Paul McDonough and the team mutually agreed to part ways while Chief Soccer Officer Armando Carneiro left the club for personal reasons. Long-time assistant coach Ian Fuller was also released by the club.
At Orlando City, Holt led the launch of the Orlando Pride in the NWSL and Orlando City B in the USL. Previous to his appointment in Orlando, Holt served as the President of the USL for six years.
Murphy joins Orlando City after a lengthy career as the Director of the Soccer Academy at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School (2003-2016) – one of only four residential soccer academies in the country.

“I am pleased to say that we have been able to agree to terms with Bobby Murphy to join the MLS coaching team and our Academy,” said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins in a release. “Bobby has been the driving force behind the St. Stephens Academy, where he has been head of development for the past 13 years. He has an exemplary record of developing young talent and we are looking forward to him working with our younger players and bridging our Academy and first team programs.”
