Orlando City SC have parted ways with head coach James O'Connor, the club announced Monday.
The Lions finished 11th place in the Eastern Conference this season, with an overall record of 9-15-10. They reached the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup.
“On behalf of Orlando City we want to thank James for all of his efforts during his coaching tenure at Orlando,” Orlando City SC EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said in a statement. “We wish James the best of luck in the next phase of his coaching career."

O'Connor was appointed head coach of Orlando during the 2018 season, inheriting a team below the playoff line. The club set a new league record for most goals conceded in a season with 74, though FC Cincinnati broke that this season after conceding 75 goals.
He had an 11-27-13 record in MLS matches as head coach of Orlando City. Prior to his time as head coach with the club, O'Connor won the USL Championship with Louisville City in 2017. He also played for Orlando in USL from 2012-14.
Orlando City have yet to make the playoffs in their five seasons in MLS.
O'Connor is the seventh head coach to be let go this season. The record number of permanent coaches to depart in a calendar year is nine, set in 2018.
