TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan
Orlando City SC announced on Wednesday they have loaned midfielder Josue Colman to Paraguayan club Cerro PorteƱo for the next year and a half. The Lions will have the option to recall Colman in either 2020 transfer window.
Colman, 20, was signed ahead of the 2018 season from Cerro, the only other club he's played for in his career. To date, he's made 32 MLS regular season appearances (11 starts), scoring one goal and six assists. The Paraguayan was signed as a Young Designated Player, but the attacker has not made the impact initially expected in MLS.
āI knew when I first arrived, there was high expectations of me, but things just didnāt go the way I hoped for, especially for the team and for me personally,ā Colman told MLSsoccer.com last September as Orlando endured a difficult season.
āAs a club we feel this is a transaction that benefits both the player and the team,ā Orlando City executive vice president of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said in a statement. āFor Josue, this gives him an opportunity to play on a consistent basis in an environment heās familiar with in his former club in Paraguay. For Orlando City, it gives us roster flexibility moving forward.ā
In total at the senior level for PorteƱo, Colman appeared in 48 matches with 43 starts scoring four goals for the Paraguayan club. At the international level, Colman tallied two starts for Paraguay at the South American U-20 Football Championships in 2017, along with four appearances for the Paraguay U-23 national team in 2016.
