Orlando City SC 0, Houston Dynamo 0 | 2018 MLS Match Recap

Orlando City SC earned only their second shutout of the season - and first since April 13 - but couldn't find the back of the net and were forced to settle for a scoreless draw with the visiting Houston Dynamo Saturday night in Florida.

Making his MLS debut, Orlando goalkeeper Adam Grinwis avoided disaster early when he brought a ball back into his box and it appeared that Houston's Romell Quioto poked it away before scoring. However, the goal was disallowed after review determined Quioto made contact while Grinwis had his hand on the ball.

Both sides struggled creating many chances, though Grinwis and his Dynamo counterpart, Joe Willis, each had one terrific save to keep the score level.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: Houston were not looking ahead at their midweek U.S. Open Cup final and started a mostly regular lineup and still couldn't come away with a much-needed three points. They've now only won once in their last 12. Orlando, which has conceded a league-high 66 goals on the year, registered only its second clean sheet of the year. However, it's now been 10 games since they last saw victory. Both remain alive for the playoffs, by a tiniest of margins.

  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH:
The reversed call early in the game turned out to be the difference. From this clip, it does appear that Grinwis had his hands on the ball when Elis poked it away.

  • MAN OF THE MATCH: When you keep an opponent from scoring for the first time in five months, this can only go to someone on the backline, and tonight it goes to center back Jonathan Spector as the leader of the defense.
