Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric's stranglehold on the MLS Save of the Week award has finally been broken.
And it wasn't a pair of goalkeeper gloves that finally ripped it away from him.
Orlando City SC fullback Brek Shea broke Deric's three-week SOTW reign with his savvy, desperate, lunging goal-line clearance of Chris Pontius' shot in D.C. United's 1-0 win over the Lions last Friday at the Citrus Bowl.
Shea's play garnered a commanding 64.07 percent of the vote, leaving Deric in distant second place with 15.5 percent. Further back, New England 'keeper Bobby Shuttleworth finished in third with 9.99 percent, followed by Bill Hamid and Joe Bendik.
