Oguchi Onyewu, who suffered setbacks from injury and struggled to break into the AC Milan lineup, will join his former coach Michel Preud'homme at FC Twente for the rest of the season. The club announced the move Wednesday.
The American defender played for the Belgian manager at Standard Liege, where the duo won a Jupiler League title in 2008.
Onyewu transferred to AC Milan in 2009 but only appeared in one match. He ruptured his patellar tendon while on national team duty in October of that year and missed the entire 2009-2010 season. The centerback, who started against England and Slovenia during the American's 2010 World Cup campaign, has not figured for the Rossoneri since returning from injury.
Onyewu has scored six goals in 58 appearance for the Red, White, and Blue.
