Sporting Kansas City netminder Jimmy Nielsen ran away with the Save of the Week honors for the second time in the last three weeks as his double-save against the Seattle Sounders earned the top honors for Week 21.
The 69th-minute saves, which captured 66 percent of the fan ballots, momentarily preserved a 1-0 lead for Nielsen's club at Livestrong Sporting Park although Seattle came back to score two late goals to claim a 2-1 road win. The runner-up, Philadelphia's Faryd Mondragón, earned three times fewer votes.
Sounders forward Mike Fucito unleashed a fierce left-footed drive in the 69th minute from the top of the box which the Danish goalkeeper dove to block with his arms. The rebound fell to Lamar Neagle, whose struck the ball first time only to see Nielsen scamper to the right post and produce one of his patented acrobatic kick saves.
Nielsen is a regular for Save of the Week consideration, winning the award six times last season. For a complete list of Save of the Week winners, click here.
