Dax McCarty, Best XI selection and all, remains under contract.
New York Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis told reporters on Monday that the club will pick up McCarty's option for the 2016 season.
There had been uncertainty throughout the year as to whether the Red Bulls were going to do so, and the club's captain added to that by saying after Sunday's Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs elimination that he had another year on his deal, "so long as they pick up my option."
The Red Bulls will be doing just that.
McCarty is coming off an outstanding season for the Red Bulls that earned him an MLS Best XI nod. The veteran midfielder captained the Red Bulls to a second Supporters' Shield title in three years and helped the club reach the Eastern Conference Championship. He finished the year with two goals and eight assists in 36 MLS games, including the playoffs.
