The New York Red Bulls tapped into their Cameroonian pipeline once again Tuesday, announcing that they’ve completed the transfer of center back Hassan Ndam from Cameroonian club Rainbow FC.
Ndam has been a regular part of the Cameroonian youth national team setup, and is currently a member of the country’s under-20 national team pool. The 18-year-old, who actually briefly trained with the Red Bulls in 2015, joins Ambroise Oyongo, Anatole Abang and Marius Obekop as the fourth player to be signed by New York from Rainbow FC.
“We are pleased to add Hassan,” Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said in a statement released by the club. “He has great physical attributes and a good sense of the game. He is young, but we think he shows promise.”
The 6-foot-4 Ndam joins a Red Bulls center back corps that includes Gideon Baah, Aurelien Collin and Damien Perrinelle.
