New York Red Bulls midfielder Florian Valot took to Instagram Tuesday to reveal he suffered a torn right ACL in Saturday's match against the San Jose Earthquakes.
The attack-minded 26-year-old Frenchman had started both games for the Red Bulls this season, but had to depart after 35 minutes on Saturday. The club later announced that Valot will undergo surgery in the coming weeks with team doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery. A timetable for return will be established after surgery.
He previously missed the second half of last season after suffering the same injury in his left knee. Up to that point, he had scored three goals and contributed five assists over 14 appearances in his first MLS season.
Valot signed with New York from their USL Red Bulls II side prior to the 2018 season. He played collegiately at nearby Rider.
